Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Audio Society
The Pacific Northwest Audio Society has been dedicated to the exploration and enjoyment of fine music and electronics since its founding in 1978. Although the Society is based in the Seattle area, we serve the greater Pacific Northwest and draw enthusiasts from as far as Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. We meet each month for a new and exciting audio experience and our network includes many of the top experts in the Pacific Northwest and around the world.
We're a bunch of Audio enthusiasts with particular interest in "true
to life" audio reproduction, who love to share our interests with each
other: from our latest music or movie finds to the off-beat "look,
I made a pair of speakers from a pair of tall-boys, plastic wrap and aluminum
foil!"
Check out the Membership page for instructions on how to become a member. For about the price of a latte each month, you'll support the Audio Society and have access to a great audio experience each month and our ready-made network. If you’re in the area, be sure to join us for a meeting and see what the club is all about.
February 9th, 2012 Our February meeting is a very special event which will
feature presentations and discussion with two Pacific Northwest audio manufacturers. Coming up from Amboy
(Vancouver) WA, Dan Wright, from ModWright Instruments, will be bringing his KWI 200 integrated amp with integral
DAC, LS 100 tube linestage (also with DAC), a KWA 150SE SS Power amp (a very special piece - ed), and likely a
tube-modified Oppo BDP-95. From Ferndale (Bellingham) WA, Lou Hinkley from Daedalus Audio, will be bringing his
Athena speakers. These speakers are characterized by their ability to remain clear as well as natural, with a wide
range of music and at all volume levels. In addition, their high (96 db) efficiency makes them amp-friendly, and it
doesn't hurt that they're beautiful to look at. Both manufacturers encourage members to bring their favorite demo
discs to the meeting. These same manufacturers partnered at the 2011 Rocky Mountain Audio Festival to produce great
music for visitors to their rooms.
Coming Up On March 8th, 2012The Pacific Northwest Audio Society welcomes Mr.
Steve McCormick. Steve will present his VRE-1C preamplifier - the first preamp where the
remote-controlled version sounds better than the manual version - and he will tell us how he managed to do that!
Guests, visitors and new members are invited.
